Comet
Pintail 45" - Longboard Skateboard

Story
I spoke with Brett Roper I told him I needed a light pintail
with a good level of response and he turned me on to the comets
as soon as I saw the pintail I knew I had what I needed. Brett
rides for afroman and later hooked me up with the big worm which
I will review at some time.

Specs
The Comet Pintail
45in/9in
Vertically laminated 3-stringer mahogany
poplar core; triaxial fiberglass; epoxy
Hardware (came as a complete with):
Randall Trucks
Kryptonics Route 70mm clear wheels
ABEC 3 bearings
1/2 inch risers

Ride
The board has a "mellow rockered concave" fits the
feet well some would find it a little skinny for bigger feet,
the board is light as a feather and mad responsive, it has a
good bit of flex but my 140 hardly makes it drop. It pumps like
a dream and is fun to carve at high speed pumps and carves it
slices the tail out a bit and on a hard pump the pop of the
flex feels really smooth connecting the pumps. The rockered
concave makes the deck real absorbent when it comes to crack
shock and hard road conditions the mid deck has a bit of sweet
spot that really dampens the thousand
finger massage.
Sliding
Set with sergio buy my wheels, it drops to a slide in a second
the
combination of the boards agility and it's weight makes breaking
into slides simple but you have to kind of guide it into and
around slides any wobble or slight mis weight and you can drop
to another slide, it slides like it's on ice. The weight of
the board makes it real easy to command and effortless to bring
back into line.
Carving, Cruising
With the original Krypto wheels it is a good all around street
carver a great boardwalk cruiser and a rather reliable hill
carver. The pop of the deck provides a locked in feeling when
you exit carves and the amount of rocker concave gives it a
really snug fit for just pushing along. The deck height is thin
so it isn't a pain to push on long distances. It is a rather
light board so I wouldn't be expecting to take nose hits at
speed into curbs real well. I feel comfortable with this board
at speeds and linking carves is real fluid, I attribute just
as much with the deck construction to the trucks.

Opinion
I would suggest this deck for the neighborhood cruiser, the
downhill
carver and the speedier of windy ways. In the recent months
I have seen Comet more and more in shops and in the words of
our pastime specific publications. I think this has as much
to do with quality of product as it has to do with marketing.
Comet makes a wide range of longboarding decks.
Try some out. I think you will like them.
